How does Linksys Aware work?

Mesh Wi-Fi blankets your home with wireless radio waves. Linksys Aware can use changes in Wi-Fi radio waves to determine when things are moving inside your home. Motion is defined as the intensity and overall magnitude of changes in the radio waves with respect to time. Linksys Aware requires a parent node with the Linksys Aware update and at least one child node wirelessly connected to the parent node or another node with the Linksys Aware update.

Why would I use Linksys Aware?

Linksys Aware can provide peace of mind when you are away from home and no one should be there. Likewise, Linksys Aware can assure you that someone made it home. Linksys Aware is not an alarm system and doesn't trigger any action other than alerting you with a notification on your phone.

Will Linksys Aware be fooled by cats?

You set your own sensitivity level to filter out things in your home that you do not want to trigger alerts. The Linksys Aware setup wizard walks you through this once you subscribe. You can change the sensitivity level at any time if it's not working for you. Go to Linksys Aware > Settings > Motion alert Sensitivity.

What are motion alerts?

You set a sensitivity level for your home that accounts for things such as pets and moving electronics. If the system senses motion that meets or exceeds your sensitivity level, the system can send an alert to your phone.

Who receives motion alerts?

When the Motion Alerts switch on the Linksys Aware home screen is on, anyone using your Linksys account can receive notifications. To turn off alters to your individual phone, use the switch in the Linksys app's Notification s screen. Others using your Linksys account can still receive alerts so ling as the main switch on the Linksys Aware home screen is turned on.

What if I only want alerts at certain times like, say, when I'm at work or on vacation?

The handy schedule tool lets you set start and end times for alerts. This way, you can schedule alerts to start when you leave home and no one is supposed to be there. Then, when you get home, the schedule can stop alerts so they are not bugging you every time you get up. Go to Linksys Aware > Settings > Motion Alert Schedule.

Can I access Linksys Aware from www.LinksysSmartWiFi.com?

No, you must use the app to view motion sensing information and settings.
