Advanced Wireless Settings
 

Authentication Type

The default is set to Auto, in which it auto-detects for Shared key or Open SystemShared Key is when the sender and recipient use a WEP key for authentication. Open System is when the sender and the recipient do NOT use a WEP key for authentication.

Basic Data Rates

This defines the basic data rate your access point will advertise.

   
Transmission Rates

The default setting is Auto. The range is from 1 to 54Mbps.

The rate of data transmission should be set depending on the speed of your wireless network. You can select from a range of transmission speeds, or you can keep the default setting, Auto, to have the Access Point automatically use the fastest possible data rate and enable the Auto-Fallback feature. Auto-Fallback will negotiate the best possible connection speed between the Access Point and a wireless client.

Transmission Power

Determines the power of wireless transmit. Use the default value if you are unsure of what this setting should be.

CTS Protection Mode

Clear To Send (CTS) protection mode ensures that 802.11g client can maintain a performance advantage in a mixed environment with 802.11b devices.

Frame Burst Mode Enabling this option should provide your network with greater performance, varying upon the manufacturer of your wireless products.
Antenna Selection

The default value is set to Diversity.  In Diversity mode, both antennas will be enabled.  Otherwise, you can set to have wireless transmission operate only on the Left or Right antenna

Beacon Interval This defines how often your access point will send out a wireless beacon.
DTIM Interval This defines the interval of the Delivery Traffic Indication Message. Do not change this setting unless you are experiencing problems on your network.
Fragmentation Threshold This defines the threshold at which the access point will begin to fragment packets. Do not change this setting unless you are experiencing problems on your network.
RTS Threshold

This defines the threshold at which the access point will start to implement a Request to Send (RTS). Do not change this setting unless you are experiencing problems on your network.
