Setup - Basic Setup

Note: After you have made your changes, click Save Settings to apply your changes.

Language

Select your language

You can select a different display language for this configuration utility.

Internet Setup

Internet Connection Type

Select the Internet connection type supported by your ISP.

Automatic Configuration - DHCP

If you connect using a dynamic IP address or cable modem, keep the default, Automatic Configuration - DHCP.

Static IP

To use a fixed IP address to connect to the Internet, select Static IP.

Internet IP Address

Enter the IP address provided by your ISP.

Subnet Mask

Enter the subnet mask provided by your ISP.

Default Gateway

Enter the gateway IP address provided by your ISP.

DNS 1-3

Enter the DNS (Domain Name System) server IP address(es) provided by your ISP.

PPPoE

If you use a DSL or PPPoE connection, select PPPoE.

Username

Enter the username provided by your ISP.

Password

Enter the password provided by your ISP.

Service Name (Optional)

Enter the Service Name, if required by your ISP.

Connect on Demand: Max Idle Time

You can use only one option, Connect on Demand or Keep Alive. To allow your Internet connection to drop when it is not used, select Connect on Demand. In the Max Idle Time field, enter the duration of inactivity allowed before your Internet connection terminates. The default is 15 minutes.

Keep Alive: Redial Period

To always keep your Internet connection active, keep the default, Keep Alive. In the Redial Period field, specify how often the Router should check the Internet connection. The default is 30 seconds.

PPTP

Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) service generally applies to connections in Europe. If your PPTP connection supports DHCP or a dynamic IP address, then select Obtain an IP Address Automatically. To use a fixed IP address to connect to the Internet, then select Specify an IP Address and configure the following:

Internet IP Address

Enter the IP address provided by your ISP.

Subnet Mask

Enter the subnet mask provided by your ISP.

Default Gateway

Enter the gateway IP address provided by your ISP.

DNS 1-3

Enter the DNS server IP address(es) provided by your ISP.

Server IP Address

Enter the server IP address provided by your ISP.

Username

Enter the username provided by your ISP.

Password

Enter the password provided by your ISP.

Connect on Demand: Max Idle Time

Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) service generally applies to connections in Israel.

Server IP Address

Enter the server IP address provided by your ISP.

Username

Enter the username provided by your ISP.

Password

Enter the password provided by your ISP.

Connect on Demand: Max Idle Time

Telstra Cable

Telstra Cable service generally applies to connections in Australia.

Server IP Address

Enter the server IP address provided by your ISP.

Username

Enter the username provided by your ISP.

Password

Enter the password provided by your ISP.

Bridge Mode
Select Bridge mode to use your router as a wireless access point instead of a router. Make sure that you connect this router’s Internet port to the Ethernet or LAN port on the router that is connected to your modem.

Optional Settings

Host Name

Enter a host name for the Router, if required by your ISP.

Domain Name

Enter a domain name for the Router, if required by your ISP.

MTU

MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) specifies the largest packet size permitted for Internet transmission. Select Manual to set a custom size. To have the Router set the best size, keep the default, Auto.

Size

Keep this value in the 1200 to 1500 range.

Network Setup

Router Address

If you are in Bridge mode, you can specify an IP address or automatically obtain an IP address.

IP Address

The Router’s local IP address is displayed.

Subnet Mask

The Router’s local subnet mask is displayed.

Default Gateway

Enter the Router’s IP address (available only while in Bridge mode).

Device Name

The Device Name is also the Router’s NetBIOS name.

DHCP Server Settings

DHCP Server

By default, the Router assigns dynamic IP addresses to local network devices (also called DHCP clients)

DHCP Reservation

If you want to assign a fixed IP address to a local network device, click DHCP Reservation.

DHCP Reservation

Select Clients from DHCP Table

Click the Select check box to reserve a client’s IP address. Then click Add Clients.

Manually Add Client

To manually assign an IP address, enter the client’s name in the Enter Client Name field. Enter the desired IP address in the Assign IP Address field. Enter its MAC address in the To This MAC Address field. Then click Add.

Clients Already Reserved

To remove a client from this list, click Remove.

To apply your changes, click Save Settings to apply your changes. To update the on-screen information, click Refresh. To exit this screen and return to the Basic Setup screen, click Close.

Start IP Address

The Start IP Address specifies the starting IP address for the range of available IP addresses.

Maximum Number of Users

Enter the maximum number of available IP addresses.

IP Address Range

The range of available IP addresses is displayed.

Client Lease Time

Enter the length of time, in minutes, that a DHCP client will be allowed to use a dynamic IP address. The default is 0 minutes, which means one day. After this time is up, the client will be automatically assigned a new dynamic IP address, or the lease will be renewed.

Static DNS 1-3

To assign specific DNS server(s) to computers or other devices on your local network, enter the DNS server IP address(es).  

WINS

To assign a WINS server to computers or other devices on your local network, enter its IP address.

Time Settings

Time Zone

Select your network’s time zone from the drop-down menu.

Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes

Select this option to have the Router automatically adjust for daylight saving time.

Reboot

Reboot

Click this option to restart your Router. Note: If you have changed any settings on this screen, click Save Settings before you use the Reboot option; otherwise you will lose your new settings.
